Planware Offers Increased Mapping Capabilities Through Partnership

May 23, 2003, Maple Valley, WA – Planware Systems, the leader in providing software solutions for school district planners is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with ESRI, the leader in GIS and mapping software. As a result of the partnership, Planware will soon release its new version of MasterPlan (v. 12) linking ESRI’s MapObjects technology. According to Jamie Panian, President of Planware Systems,” This new version of MasterPlan will have the look and feel of ESRI’s ArcView. This means advanced display options in ONPASS/GIS and DISPATCH. In particular, the applications will have the ability to display and modify externally created Shape files, such as bodies of water, railroads, city boundaries, census areas and more. In essence, the strategic partnership with ESRI combines the outstanding map displays that ESRI is known for with the powerful planning features the have been Planware’s hallmark. The result is visually stunning and even more user friendly than before.”

The new version of MasterPlan will also provide improved zoom, pan and search features, and maps will be easier to navigate. All ONPASS/GIS maps will be exportable to ArcView for further editing options. In addition, school districts can easily update their files by simply going to their local or county GIS department and obtaining new files to update streets. “School districts need not only effective planning tools”, says Panian, “but tools that generate the maps and reports that visually convey their plans to handle growth or decline. This makes presentations more complete and more convincing.” Current ESRI ArcView users can qualify for special conversion rates when up-dating to MasterPlan.
