KELLER ISD USES THE MASTERPLAN SOFTWARE SUITE TO STAY AHEAD OF GROWTH

December 1, 2006 - Morgan Hill, CA

Keller ISD, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area, is the third fastest growing district in this area adding approximately 2,000 new students per year having averaged between 7-9% annual growth during the last 15 years.

Single-family development has been the biggest factor influencing enrollment growth for the past 12-15 years with 2500 and 2900 new homes annually. The development rate of single-family housing in the Keller ISD will begin to decline in 2-4 years as available land is diminishing. However, multi-family development will be a key factor impacting enrollment growth during the next 5-10 year period. There is currently multi-family zoning to produce over 8,000 new multi- family units. A majority of these new units will be located in the western portion of the district. Multi-family housing presents challenges in forecasting due to the extreme student yields they may produce.

The district uses ONPASSÆ to model boundary changes based on data from FORECAST/DSô. "Planware [MasterPlan] has allowed us to be better prepared, better organized, and more efficient to stay in front of the growth that we have been facing and will keep facing for the next 10-15 years." says Jeff Baker, Director of Planning and Development. The old methods of boundary planning with pen and paper just didn't work anymore. "We needed a software program to simplify the process."

With Keller ISD enrollment currently at 28,000, the district expects growth at build out to be approximately 38,000-41,000 students. The MasterPlan software suite provides the district with the necessary tools to stay ahead of this growth.
