LIBERTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS COMPLETES ROUTING IN RECORD TIME WITH PLANWARE'S MASTERPLAN SOFTWARE
August 05, 2005 -- Morgan Hill, California - Liberty Public Schools, in Liberty, Missouri, has just
completed their bus routing for 2005 in record time, thanks to Planware Systems' MasterPlan for
Transportation software suite and its flagship program DISPATCH.
"Last year was drama and stress..." says Laura Preston, from Liberty Public Schools'
Transportation Department. "Now with Planware we routed 8450 students in 23 days."
The point-and-click interface of DISPATCH allows users to easily design bus runs in a visual way
that is impossible with traditional methods. Users can see where student population centers are
and fit their bus runs to match. While DISPATCH includes powerful algorithms that can determine
the transportation eligibility of students and establish optimal bus routes and schedules
consistent with district policies, its simplicity is what makes it stand out.
"Four years ago when we had 5000 students we worked about five months to route our kids
manually," says Ms. Preston. "(This year) we started from scratch and removed all runs and stops
from last year and began with a clean slate. We created 103 routes from PK-12 and Spec Ed."
In addition to time, DISPATCH has saved Liberty Public Schools a lot of money, as well. "The man
hours saved alone in our routing has more than paid for the program," Ms. Preston says.
The MasterPlan software has created one problem for Liberty's Transportation Department,
however. Ms. Preston explains: "We are sitting here everyday trying to find things to do to keep
us busy because everything is ready."
